We are a family on a mission to improve your health with the power of super plants.
Azzizah began hot air popping popcorn on the stovetop in the summer of 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. As a vegan and former lover of Parmesan cheese popcorn, she searched her kitchen for savory ingredients to create a replica of her once favorite snack. The quest begins: improving my health with the power of super plants.
While nursing a newborn and toddler, Azzizah was always hungry and needed a go-to treat that would give her body the nutrients required to successfully nourish herself and her babies. Azzizah’s family and close friends encouraged her to try a hand in selling her treat at the ‘drum circle’ on Sunday’s at the Historical Leimert Park Village. A little over a year later, the success was so great that in 2014, Azzizah decided to pitch her product to Simply Wholesome Health Food Store and Restaurant in Inglewood, CA.
Selling out within a matter of days
Azzizah knew she had to broaden her scope. “That week, I went into Erewhon Natural Food Market on Beverly Blvd, located next door to CBS Studios to find the buyer. I promptly found her, placed my product in her hands, and walked away to continue shopping. Before I finished collecting the items on my grocery list, the buyer approached me with green lips and fingers and asked, “So when can we place our first order?”” The quest continues: improving my health with the power of super plants.
In 2015, Azzizah’s Herbal Green Popcorn became the #2 Best Selling product at Erewhon Market, selling out weekly at all 7 of their locations(Los Angeles, Venice Beach, Silverlake, Studio City, Pacific Palisades, Calabasas, and Santa Monica).
Since then, Azzizah’s Herbal Green Popcorn has become a household staple for customers of establishments such as Sevananda Cooperative in Atlanta, GA, Mandela Cooperative in Oakland, CA, Grassroots Health Food Store in Pasadena, CA, Jack’s Stir Brew, in Amagansett, NY, Pacific Coast Greens in Malibu, CA, Local Green Atlanta in Atlanta, GA, Clean Market in New York City as well as a number of celebrities.
At Azzizah’s Herbal Green Popcorn we believe “you are what you eat”. We pride ourselves on using the cleanest most simple ingredients to help nourish and fuel our bodies. Snacks should be fun!
